šŸ¢ Slowness as success

And putting wellbeing first

First, a truthā€¦

When youā€™re a company of one (or two), YOU are your greatest asset.

However we often prioritise:

  • Other peopleā€™s demands
  • The to-do list
  • Meetings

Often at the cost of:

  • That morning walk
  • The exercise class
  • Serendipity

But what if you made these things the most important?

When I started to do this, everything changed.

A few years ago I started ring fencing:

  • My morning dog walk
  • Time at the gym
  • Lunch

And SPACE in the day for any unplanned events life had in store:

  • Kids errands
  • Checking in on ageing parents
  • And a little spontaneity

Here are 5 things I learned:

  1. I was able to think more clearly and get perspective
  2. I became much more efficient with my time, working in short bursts
  3. I made better (more whole body) decisions
  4. Problems started to dissolve rather than build up
  5. As a result I became way less stressed

Thereā€™s a time in life when we canā€™t escape the busy-ness.

But when we are able to, we are in a privileged position to choose what we value the most. So we should honour it.

Taking time for yourself isnā€™t indulgent, itā€™s essential.

Donā€™t let the dashboard lights flash before you refuel.

Top up on the good stuff.

And see slowness as success.

You and your business will be better for it.

At The Happy Startup School we help you slow down AND speed up your ideas. We host 2 decelerators for founders and leaders ā€” Alptitude and Summercamp ā€” and a purpose accelerator for those looking to navigate whatā€™s next ā€” Vision 20/20.
